Egypt and Tunisia claim Men’s U23 World Champs Tickets

Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, November 11, 2014- Hosts Egypt and Tunisia Men’s U23 teams clinched the two World Championship tickets after they secured the top 2 positions at the 2014 Men’s U23 African Nations Championship following their fourth victory in a raw held in day 4 held at Youth City complex Hall in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt on Tuesday.

Egypt overcame the sluggish start in the first set to beat Morocco 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-18), while Tunisia cruised past Libya 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-15), with both teams winning their four matches without dropping a set collecting the maximum of 12 points.

The two African giants will meet on Wednesday to determine the African Champions of the first ever continental competition for this age category.

In the third match of day 4 Algeria stunned Rwanda 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-15) to come in the third position with 2-2 (6 pts). Libya and Rwanda are now equal in the win- loss ratio of 1-3 with 3 points ahead of Morocco 0-4 who are the only winless team.

Tunisia v Libya 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-15)

Tunisia dominated all the skills to overpower Libya 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-15) in the first of day 4 matches in 59 minutes. Making a great pressure through their spike service, Tunisia made a great disturbance for the Libyan defence and allowed them to secure an easy victory.

Tunisia had a big dominance in areas of blocking (16-4), Serving (7 aces/1) and spiking (39/21).

With the victory Tunisia improved their win- loss ratio to 4-0 to lead the competition one day before the end with 12 points. Libya dropped to 1-3 with 3 points.

Middle blocker Mohamed Brahim led the Tunisian scorers with 15 points followed by Adam Oueslati 12, while Alamin Al Saghir Hossam Al Kobairy led the Libyans with 6 points each.

Tunisia started the match with massive use of the service and with the errors in reception, Tunisia came ahead 8-2 at the FTT. The Libyan team tried to enter the match, but the Tunisians were too strong for them in the areas of blocking to win the set 25-13.

The Libyan players were affected by widely losing the first set, while the Tunisians were more stable to proceed in their strategy till they won both the second and third sets 25-13 and 25-15 and the match 3-0.

Algeria v Rwanda 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-15)

Attackers Akram Dekkiche and Amar Harz led Algeria to cruise past Rwanda 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-15) in 69 minutes.

Algeria improved to 2-2 with 6 points to jump to the third position, while Rwanda dropped to 1-3 with three points in the fifth position.

Akram Dekkiche led the Algerian scorers with 14 points followed by Amar Harz 11 points. Nelson Murangwa led the Rwandan scorers with 12 points followed by Aimable Mutuyimana 10 points.

The Algerian team started more disciplined in the court and used their big gum Amar Harz to score a lot of points from position 4. Rwanda entered the match lately to through their wing spiker Aimable Mutuyimana to decrease the point deficit till 20-18. Algeria won the crucial points to win the set 25-22.

The Algerian dominance increased in the second set with the mistakes done by most of the Rwandan players. Dekkiche played his best to lead his team towards a 25-20 to lead 2-0.

The Rwandan team motivations dropped, while the Algerians showed more improvement in their attacks although their coach Samir Zaitoni made a lot of substitutions. The Algerians went easily to 25-15 win in the third set and 3-0 in the match.

Egypt v Morocco 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-18)

Egypt continued their winning rhythm after they overwhelmed Morocco 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-18) in 72 minutes. Egypt improved to 4-0 with 12 points, while Morocco dropped to 0-4.

Egypt totally dominated most of the skills with 5/3 advantage in Ace services, 13-5 in blocking and 41/28 in spiking so it was easy for them to secure the win although the head coach Gaber Abdelsalam played with the full list of 12 players.

The Egyptian team started with superiority in the first set where they led 8-3 at the first TTO, but suddenly Morocco emerged with the service of Brahim Ameur to decrease the point deficit to 16-14 at the second TTO. The Moroccan team stayed near till the Egyptian coach made some substitutions which made the difference as they won narrowly 25-23.

Egypt changed three players in their lineup, but they maintained their dominance through the services and the blocking activity of both Mohamed Adel and Ahmed Maher to win the set 25-14.

Again it was the quick attacks through the centers and the kill blocks of the Egyptian team the factor to win the third set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
